I wasn’t able to attend the meeting yesterday… read through documents and don’t see anyone suggest a fenced dog park. Mifflin certainly has the space, and there are no fenced parks south of Snyder. A space for owners to let their dogs exercise would be great! It may also reduce dog waste in other parts of park.

hi Steph, thanks for your comment! Throughout the process, several people have raised the idea of a fenced dog area, and you can see this included near the corner of 5th & Wolf Streets in Design Direction #2 at http://bit.ly/2CSbCNl.
In response, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation has said they are open to including a fenced dog area, but would need to work with an organized group of dog owners willing to step up and commit to maintaining it, since this wouldn’t be part of usual park maintenance. Maybe you know some dog owners who’d be willing to get this started? Parks and Recreation lists their Dog Run Guidelines at http://www.phila.gov/ParksandRecreation/aboutus/rulesandregs/Pages/DogRunGuidelines.aspx.
