Building Resident Power! Sept 16-17 South Philly Neighborhood Summit

On September 16 and 17, SEAMAAC along with Friends of Mifflin Square Park, Greater Philadelphia Community Alliance, Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia, and Karen Community of Philadelphia will host the 2022 South Philly Neighborhood Summit, two days of celebrations, discussions, and work sessions on the theme of “Building Resident Power!” for all residents living between 4th and 9th Streets from Mifflin Street to Oregon Avenue.

On Friday, September 16, from 5 to 7 pm, Neighborhood Storytelling & Performance will be held in Mifflin Square Park at 6th and Ritner Streets, featuring residents sharing their stories of growing up around the park and how they became active in the community.

On Saturday, September 17, from 10 am to 5:40 pm, a series of public conversations and work sessions at Snyder Avenue Congregational Church (300 Snyder Avenue near 3rd St) will focus on how neighborhood organizations and residents can work together to implement the recommendations of Our Plan for Our Neighborhood: Community Plan for South Philadelphia between 4th and 9th Streets, Mifflin Street to Oregon Avenue. This neighborhood plan was completed between 2020 and 2022 by coalition organizations supported by HECTOR urban design, and includes recommendations for Building Resident Power; A Safe, Clean & Healthy Environment; Houses & Apartments; Business & Shopping; Parks & Community Institutions; and Getting Around.
